Things to Bring

20 Questions to Ask

Medications: If your child brings any type of medication to camp it must be given to the camp nurse at check-in. Campers are permitted to keep their     epi-pens and medications for asthma.

The camp nurse is responsible to make sure campers receive their medication (if needed) at the specified times. All medications must be in their original containers with the name of the child, medication and dosage printed clearly on the affixed label.

CAMP KAHUNA, A Fun and Safe Place to Be

  • There is a camp nurse on site at all times during the camp week.
  • Senior staff all have their First Aid/CPR training as well as are trained to use of an epi-pen.
  • We have a 4:1 counselor to camper ratio.
  • All staff are required to have a police check.
  • Camp staff are involved in an extensive camp training program.
  • We have established emergency protocols that are put in place to ensure camper safety.
  • While we are unable to provide an entirely nut free environment, we endeavour to reduce the risk to campers and staff at Camp Kahuna. Nuts and nut butters/oils will not be used in any food preparation nor will they be served from the kitchen. We will encourage all staff and campers to refrain from consuming items containing nuts on camp property. Camp Kahuna's food is peanut free. We purchase all the food to guarantee that it is peanut free.Children are not permitted to bring their own food into camp unless it is required for a special diet.  All staff will be informed of the signs and symptoms of an anaphylactic reaction and will be oriented to the use of an Epi-pen. The nursing coordinator will train staff in the procedure to follow in the event of a severe allergic reaction.
  • A behaviour policy has been established so that inappropriate behaviour is dealt with and does not negatively influence a camper's stay.
